Warplane
Focussing on modern military aviation, Warplane was published in 120 weekly parts between 1985 and 1988. Profusely illustrated, and featuring for the first time in every issue the superb fold out three-quarter-view artwork that has become our trademark, it includes a directory of over 450 of the world’s key military aircraft. But Warplane’s greatest strength is in its coverage of what military aircraft do. Features on air wars from Afghanistan to Vietnam are illuminated by operational profiles of individual aircraft types, from counter-insurgency operations in the South African bush to the perilous spy missions that risked turning the Cold War into a real conflict.
